Teguise Sees One of Spain’s Highest Hotel Occupancy Rates in March

Teguise recorded one of the highest hotel occupancy rates in Spain this March, with a rate of 85.2%. The municipality also saw a peak weekend occupancy rate of 87%, according to the latest Hotel Occupancy Survey from INE.

Despite this, overall hotel occupancy in the Canary Islands declined this March compared to last year, dropping from 76.7% to 74.8%. Lanzarote experienced a slight decrease, from 75.8% last March to 74.7% this year.

Tenerife recorded the most overnight stays last month, with over 2.1 million, followed by popular tourist destinations such as Madrid, Barcelona, and San Bartolomé de Tirajana. The Canary Islands had the highest occupancy rate by number of beds in March, with 74.9%.

In total, 39.1% of international visitors to Spain in March chose the Canary Islands as their destination, with Andalusia and Catalonia attracting 15.3% and 15.2%, respectively.
