Kyungwonjae, a five-star hanok hotel located in Songdo International City, Incheon, is starting a new chapter under the prestigious Walkerhill brand. Now officially renamed Kyungwonjae by Walkerhill, the hotel marks a first in Korea as the country’s first luxury hanok hotel to adopt the Walkerhill name.
The Incheon Economic Agency, which owns the property, announced on June 18 that it has entrusted hotel operations to the Japan International Hospitality Group (Daeil), beginning May 1. The management contract will run through April 2030.
Daeil, established in 2008, is a hotel management company based in Songdo and currently operates 12 hotels and training centers across the region.
An official event was held to commemorate the rebranding and new operational partnership. Industry attention was high due to the unique nature of the collaboration—combining traditional Korean architecture with Walkerhill’s global reputation.
The Incheon Economic Agency, led by Director Yoon Won-seok, expressed confidence that the combination of Walkerhill’s 60-year heritage and Kyungwonjae’s architectural beauty will strengthen the hotel’s identity and status in the hospitality market.
