The Asia Pacific (APEC) region, excluding China, has experienced notable growth in hotel construction projects in the first quarter of 2025, according to the latest data from Lodging Econometrics (LE).
The region’s hotel pipeline has reached 2,074 projects, totaling 408,213 rooms, marking a 3% year-on-year (YOY) increase in the number of projects and a 1% rise in the number of rooms. This steady growth indicates strong demand for new hotel developments across the region.
By the end of Q1 2025, there were 872 hotel projects under construction, representing 198,640 rooms, reflecting a 1% YOY increase in project count. The first quarter also saw a significant rise in construction starts, with 115 new projects breaking ground—an increase of 55% in project count and 70% in room count compared to the previous year.
These figures highlight growing confidence in the hospitality sector across the APEC region.
