Intrepid Travel has expanded its portfolio by acquiring two boutique properties: a coastal resort in Tasmania, Australia, and a traditional riad in Marrakech, Morocco.
The family-run Edge of the Bay is a 20-room resort near Coals Bay, Tasmania. Set on 18 acres with views of Wineglass Bay, it offers oceanview studios and private chalets close to Freycinet National Park. Intrepid plans to refresh the resort to align with its impact-led ethos.
This includes introducing nature-based activities and environmental education programs developed in partnership with Greening Australia, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring native vegetation. The company also intends to collaborate with the Palawa people, the indigenous custodians of the land, to carry out a cultural heritage assessment of the property.
In Marrakech, Intrepid has acquired a 17-room riad located minutes from the Medina, the city’s historic old town. The traditional Moroccan guesthouse, which opened this month, offers culinary experiences through The Amal Association—a nonprofit that trains women in hospitality. Intrepid will take full operational control of the riad starting in July.
These acquisitions strengthen Intrepid Travel’s commitment to sustainable tourism while providing authentic local experiences for travelers.
