Radisson Hotel Group has started rolling out its Verified Net Zero hotel status, calling it the new gold standard for sustainable hospitality.
The former Park Inn Manchester, near the city’s AO Arena, has been renovated and renamed Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel.
Radisson’s Verified Net Zero program covers all direct and indirect emissions, known as Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions. The program includes using 100% renewable energy, reducing waste, and improving supply chains to cut carbon emissions.
Any remaining emissions are offset through Nature Based carbon credits. These credits come from carbon removal projects, done in partnership with the soil carbon program Agreena.
At the Manchester hotel, heat pumps have been installed to provide hot water. The hotel also works with Klimato to create low-carbon menus. Klimato helps by analyzing all food offerings—like in-room dining, meeting and event menus, and the breakfast buffet—and curates recipes to lower their carbon footprint.
