The Detroit Foundation Hotel, housed in the historic former Detroit Fire Department headquarters, has unveiled a fresh look after completing a renovation of its 100 guestrooms and The Apparatus Room restaurant. The update, completed in May, highlights the work of Detroit-based design firm Parini and includes a revamped seasonal menu led by executive chef Rece Hogerheide.
Originally opened in 2017, the renovation emphasizes the hotel’s commitment to reflecting Detroit’s evolving creative and industrial culture. The design updates feature darker color palettes and new textiles in the rooms, including seven Commander Suites. The hotel’s meeting room, the Borgman Room, has also been redesigned to promote informal gatherings, coworking, or private events.
Michael Kitchen, Partner & EVP of Acquisitions at Aparium Hotel Group, expressed pride in reintroducing the hotel to the community, stating that the updates align with both the hotel’s and the city’s ongoing evolution.
